The Halloween is celebrated by the Celts to mark the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter and they also believed that this transition between the seasons was a bridge to the world of dead.

Before doing anything it is very important for us to know about the root reason here you can read some interesting facts about the Halloween.

Origin of Halloween

Halloween is the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts were leaved 2000 years ago in the area that is now known as Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, this country people celebrate their new year on November 1.  This day is believed and marked as end of summer and beginning of dark days that is cold winter, this time of the year was mostly associated with the human death. The Celts believe that end of year night the world of dead and the living will become blurred.  Samhain is celebrated at the night of October 31 and it is believed that the ghosts of the dead will return back to the earth, to trouble the people and to damage the crops. The Celts thought that the presence of the dead people souls made it easier for the Celtic priests to find prediction about the future, for the people who are totally depended on the unstable natural world these prophecies were an important source of comfort and great direction at the time of long and dark winter. The Celtic priest built the huge bonfires and the people gathered to burn the crops and sacrificed animals to the Celtic deities to honor this festival. The Celtics wore costumes that consist of animal heads and skins and they tell each other’s fortunes during this festival celebration. Once the celebration is over they re-lit the hearth fires that they had extinguished at the previous day evening, from the sacred bonfire to protect them from the upcoming winter.

At the time of 43 A.D., majority of the Celtic territory was conquered by the Roman Empire, at the course of four hundred Roman ruled the Celtic lands and at the time the two festivals of the Roman origin were combined with traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain. The first was Feralia, this is celebrated at the day in late October, when the Romans honor the passing of the dead souls. The second was celebrated to honor the Pomona; this is the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. Apple is the symbol of Pomona and combining of this celebration with Samhain is probably to explain the tradition of “bobbing” for the apples even this is practiced today at the time of Halloween.

The Halloween is the great time for both celebration and superstition.  Halloween is one of the world’s oldest holidays that were evolved into secular community –based event characterized by the child friendly activities such as the trick-or-treating. People in number of countries in the world continue to escort with some gatherings, costumes and sweet treats during the winter season.  This festival is celebrated in number of countries around the world. In Mexico and in other Latin American countries this is celebrated as Día de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead—the honors deceased to the loved ones and to our ancestors. In the other countries such as Ireland, Canada and at United States the children and the adult similarly revel in the popular Halloween holiday, which is derived from the ancient religious rituals and festivals. In many tradition people include costume parties, trick-or-treating, games and pranks. In Mexico, Latin America and at the Spain the soul’s day take place on November 2, and honored with three days celebration and that begins on 31 of October. Many of the families construct the alter to the dead at their homes and decorate it with the flowers, candies, photographs, sample of the deceased’s favorite foods and drinks and with the fresh water.  Candles and the incense sticks are burned to help the dead souls to find the way to the home; many people clean the gravesites of the departed family members, after they will decorate the gravesites with flowers, paper streamers and wreaths.  On the last day that is on November 2 the friends and relatives gather on the gravesite to picnic and reminisce even some gatherings include tequila.
